Semi Truck Driver Falls Asleep, Spills Beer On Interstate

State police have released additional information on a single vehicle semi accident that had I-70 restricted to one lane in each direction for several hours Tuesday.

At around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday an unidentified semi driver who was transporting a load of Bud Light Lime fell asleep at the wheel and ran into the grassy median around mile post 28 of westbound I-70. State police told WGEL there were no skid marks on the scene and evidence showed the driver did not brake until he was in the median. The semi overturned, scattering five to ten pallets of canned beer throughout the area. The driver was transported to Anderson Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was cited for alleged driving while fatigued and alleged improper lane usage.

The interstate was restricted to one lane in each direction until approximately 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.
