Illinois State Police are reminding motorists that large amounts of rain can lead to potentially dangerous driving conditions.
Make sure your vehicle is prepared for wet weather with tires, brakes, and windshield wipers checked to be sure they are in good condition. Turn on your headlights to be more visible to other motorists. Allow for more travel time as you may need to drive more slowly and do not try to drive through deep or rushing water. Increase your following distance as wet roads increase the time it takes to safely stop your vehicle.
