When The Greenville City Council holds its regular July meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., a topic on the agenda will be a decision on the Green Gables Subdivision preliminary plat. The meeting will be held in the Greenville High School Auditorium.

According to the mayor, a public hearing on the subdivision plat will not be conducted, however public comments will be allowed.

The plan commission and city council have held public hearings on the subdivision with about 10 hours of testimony being presented. The plan commission has recommended the preliminary plat for the proposed 40-home subdivision be denied. City staff has recommended the plat be accepted to build the subdivision on the east edge of the city, off an extension of College Avenue.

At a lengthy special city council meeting on June 23, the council heard many comments for and against the subdivision, but decided to wait and make a decision on the preliminary plat at the July 14 meeting.
