Motorists in Greenville might have noticed hoses across some streets.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is conducting traffic counts on Greenville’s Federal Aide Urban routes. Bill Grider, Greenville public works superintendent, said IDOT conducts the traffic counts about every five years.

The numbers are used to determine if a road has enough traffic to qualify for FAU financial assistance when requests for improvements are submitted.
