According to the United States Department of Agriculture Crop Report for the week ending July 26, below average rainfall throughout most of Illinois allowed farmers to continue harvesting small grains and cutting hay.
Statewide precipitation averaged 0.57 inches, 0.40 inches below normal.
The average temperature was 74.8 degrees, 1.2 degrees below normal.
Topsoil moisture was rated at 3 percent short, 67 percent adequate, and 30 percent surplus.
Corn condition is rated 5 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.
Soybean condition is rated 6 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
Sorghum planting and winter wheat harvesting are 95 percent completed.
