The 19th annual Carlyle Lake Car Show and Cruz-In will be held at Mariner’s Village Resort on Friday from 4:30 to 10 p.m.
If the forecast for good weather is correct, 350 to 400 classic cars are expected from throughout central and southern Illinois and surrounding states and attendance could be 3,000 to 4,000 people, according to Dick Connors, coordinator of the event. Its anticipated cars will begin arriving at the resort between 3 and 4 p.m. Friday. Those attending the show are urged to bring lawn chairs.
Connors told WGEL the event started as a way to bolster tourism efforts. He said it didn’t take long to bridge his background in motorsports with tourism at the lake. Click below for more:
The last cruise of the event, across the main dam, will start at 9:30 p.m.
The event is hosted by Mariner’s Village Resort, the City of Carlyle, Carl’s 4-Wheel Drive of Bartelso and Misfit Motorsports Productions.
