Bond County Building Commission Approves Sidewalk, Gutter & Carpet Bids

The Bond County Building Commission met Monday to consider three requests from the Bond County Board.

Motions were approved regarding sidewalks, guttering and carpeting.

The total cost for all of the items is $18,686.03.

Slatton Excavating of Greenville will replace some sidewalks areas around the courthouse and around the Civil War monument. New sidewalk will be installed from the walk on the south side of College avenue to the entry of the gazebo. The sidewalk work price is $12,670.

Clinton Seamless Guttering of Breese will clean the courthouse gutters, caulk and seal all gutter holes, and repair areas of the soffit, as needed. That work will cost $3,800.

Clinton Seamless installed the gutters on the courthouse building 20 years ago.

Carpeting will be installed in the first floor county board meeting room. It is being purchased from L & B Flooring of Greenville. The cost for the project is not to exceed $2,216.03.

The Building Commission currently has $319,015.30 with commitments, not including what was approved Monday, of about $60,000 for lighting work in the courthouse and new carpeting in the second floor courtroom area.

Judge John Knight reported to the commission that the courtroom carpeting is expected to be delivered the week of September 14 with installation during the following two weeks. Court will continue during the installation of the carpet.
