Community Church Service Part Of Bicentennial

A community church service is scheduled Sunday morning as part of the Greenville bicentennial celebration.

It will start at 9 a.m. in the Central Christian Church at the intersection of Vine Avenue and Prairie Street.

Pastor Tom Plog told WGEL the Worthingtons, a family bluegrass gospel group will lead the worship service. A guest from the original Episcopalian group that met in the church prior to the Central Christian Church’s purchase of the building in 1962 will offer a special reading. Plog will deliver a brief message and the program should end by 10:15.

Central Christian is one of the historic church buildings in Greenville, according to Plog. He said much of the beautiful building remains as it was when it was built in the 1800’s.
