County Board Talks Fuel, Insurance

In their meeting this week, the Bond County Board heard a presentation from South Central FS on a fuel contract for county autos and construction equipment. The board has another bid from another supplier and will continue to look into their options.

The board opted to add a health insurance option for employees. The offering is a high-deductible policy that will require an extra $1,000 out of pocket for employees, but includes $85 per month from the county that will be deposited into a health savings account. Even with the $85 contribution, the county would still see significant savings through the plan. Three local banks have offered the health savings account at no charge to the county or employee. The employee would have the choice of which bank to use.

The resignation of Sharon Grimes from the Illinois South Tourism Board was accepted.
