Eric Kelly, a recent graduate of Kaskaskia College and current part-time Web Developer for the school, recently won a competition sponsored by US Cyber Challenge.

Kelly was part of a four person team that took the top spot in a Capture the Flag competition to win the Illinois’ Cyber Elite Competition. The competition was the culmination of a week-long Illinois Cyber Camp held at Moraine Valley Community College near Chicago. The winners each received a $1000 scholarship.

Kelly, a US Army veteran who has served in Iraq, is amassing a number of cyber security certifications in order to secure a position in the dynamic cyber security field, and hopes to continue his education in the fall at SIUC or Governor’s State University. “The wind is blowing good, but I haven’t put my sail up just yet,” Kelly said, when asked which direction in cyber-security he would choose.
