Fireworks Display Part Of Bicentennial

There will be a fireworks display following the Little River Band concert at the Greenville Bicentennial Celebration the night of September 6.

The fireworks will be set off on open city property located near the west ends of Main, South and Winter streets. Another site under consideration had been Montrose Cemetery, but the cemetery board opposed it.

The Fourth of July fireworks display was cancelled due to Patriot’s Park conditions caused by rain.

The bicentennial committee asked the Fourth of July group if it would consider shooting the fireworks during the bicentennial celebration and an agreement was reached.

Since the city’s property being used as a launch site is low in elevation, larger firework shells will be used so the fireworks can be seen from the downtown area, which is where the bicentennial celebration is taking place.
