Hay cutting continued during the week ending August 2 with the state experiencing warm, dry, conditions.
Statewide, precipitation averaged 0.62 inches, 0.13 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 7 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 18 percent surplus.
Corn silking reached 94 percent, slightly behind 96 percent last year and the 5-year average of 97 percent. Corn condition was rated 5 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 13 percent excellent.
Soybean blooming was at 82 percent, compared to 90 percent last year and the 5-year average of 88 percent. Soybean condition was rated at 6 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.
