Mulberry Grove Graduate Receives George McKibben Scholarship

Lorraine Albert of rural Mulberry Grove recently received the $500 George McKibben Memorial Scholarship at the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual meeting in Springfield.

The scholarship was established to assist outstanding agriculture students in the completion of their education at any Illinois State college.

Lorraine graduated in May 2015 with an Associate in Arts Degree from Kaskaskia College and is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Agri-Business Economics and a minor in Marketing at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

While at Kaskaskia College, Lorraine got involved with the Bond County Soil & Water Conservation District through the Ag in the Classroom program and still teaches kids in kindergarten – 6th grade once a month about various topics of agriculture.
