An Ohio family sustained serious injury in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon just west of Exit 45 near Greenville. 23 year old Blake Miller of Columbus, OH was heading eastbound on I-70 when state police say he fell asleep at the wheel just after 5:00 p.m. His vehicle traveled off the road and overturned numerous times.
Greenville Fire Protection District personnel helped set up a landing area for two ARCH helicopters and Bond County EMS responded. Miller was transported to Greenville Regional Hospital by ambulance and his two passengers, family members aged 58 and 45, were each flown to St. Louis University Hospital.
Traffic was stopped on I-70 for about a half hour.
