The Bond County Community Unit 2 tentative budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year is now on display at the district and online.
Superintendent Wes Olson told WGEL the budget is very tentative at this point, because, “there are still a lot of question marks.” Olson said expenditures have been reduced by about $792,000, but revenues are also expected to be down by about $500,000. The school district is also currently involved in collective bargaining, so an exact number for salaries isn’t available yet.
The budget that is out on display now is a deficit budget. Olson says the shortfall is about $900,000. He said you don’t want to operate that way for very long, but he’s hoping the projection may change and lead to an amended budget when additional information is released from Springfield.
