Two Injured In Pickup/Semi-Truck Accident On I-70

Illinois State Police from District 12 in Effingham handled a pickup and semi-truck accident Wednesday, at 3:13 p.m., on Interstate 70 in the eastbound lanes at the 56 mile marker. Mulberry Grove Firefighters were dispatched for mutual aid.

According to Mulberry Grove Fire Chief Dwight Volkmar, traffic was backed up for more than two miles on the Interstate before being diverted onto Rt. 40 between Mulberry Grove and Vandalia. Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for about 40 minutes.

Fayette County EMS took two people to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia but Illinois State Police have not released their names or other details about the accident.
