The Vandalia City Council has called a special meeting for 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 7th. The meeting will be held in the Vandalia City Hall and was scheduled to consider the adoption of an ordinance granting the Mayor extraordinary powers and authority during a state of emergency.
In the early morning hours Tuesday, several buildings in the 500 block of West Gallatin Street in Vandalia were damaged when a roof collapsed at 507 West Gallatin. The buildings were all non-operating businesses according to Vandalia Police.
