Those passing by the Greenville Public Library Tuesday saw an unusual site…men working on top of the dome of the historic structure.
The library board has contracted with Renaissance Roofing of Rockford for replacement of the roof and installation of a cupola on top of the dome.

The original library building had a cupola, but it was eventually removed. An anonymous donor is paying to have a cupola added to the building as new shingles are being placed on the entire roof. Gorsch said that structurally, the dome is in good shape. Click below to hear Gorsch share more about the cupola:
The company is hoping to install the cupola in October. Gorsch is excited about it, saying “it’s going to be a fun project.”
