The Bond County Health Department is reporting the first positive bird for West Nile Virus, tested from the Eastern portion of the county. A mosquito batch in Bond County tested positive earlier this summer. Human cases have been reported around the state, including one death, but there have been no human cases in Bond County.

The best way to prevent West Nile disease or any other mosquito-borne illness is to reduce the number of mosquitoes around your home and to take personal precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
