Downtown Greenville is very colorful today with red, white and blue bunting on store fronts, put up by Public Works employees.
Bill Grider, superintendent of public works, said there is a lot of work to be done before Saturday and Sunday’s Bicentennial celebration. He told us the bunting will be a two-day project. Many “no parking” signs have to be put up Friday. Parking lots are being cleaned up and prepared. Grider also said there is a lot of mowing and general clean-up going on all around town. Crews have been working overtime to get ready for the celebration.

The city has also erected new electric boxes to handle the need for more electric outlets this weekend.
Grider said two man-lifts for the bunting project have been donated by Joiner Roofing and Mallinckrodt, which is also furnishing labor.
