Bobby E. Robinson, age 49, of Royal Lake, was charged Monday afternoon in Bond County Circuit Court with five counts of alleged first degree murder in connection with the Friday night shooting death of his wife, Tiffany Johnson.
Count 1 alleges Bobby Robinson, with the intent to kill Tiffany Robinson, used a handgun to shoot her in the neck. The other charges allege the defendant took the action with the intent to do great bodily harm to the victim, knowing that such an act would cause her death, knowing that the act created a strong probability of her death, and knowing it would create a strong probability of great bodily harm.
If convicted of first degree murder, Bobby Robinson faces a range of prison time from 20 to 60 years. A sentence enhancement of 25 years to natural life can be added if the defendant is found to have discharged a firearm during the offense and it was the cause of a death.
The incident occurred Friday night in the couple’s Royal Lake home.
