Nast Sentenced To Six Months In Jail For Hit And Run Fatality

26 year old Jonathon Nast of Damiansville has been sentenced to six months in jail for the 2014 fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of 23 year old Lana Albert, of Edwardsville.

Albert reportedly left a bar in Breese and was wandering in and out of traffic around 2:00 a.m. on June 8, 2014 on Old U.S. Rt. 50 when she was hit by a truck driven by Nast. Nast then sold the truck to a scrap dealer before police were notified it had been in an accident.

Nast lost his license and was charged with failure to report a fatal accident and obstructing justice by destroying evidence.

This past Wednesday, Nast apologized for his actions and entered a negotiated guilty plea and was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine.
