The Greenville City Council will meet in special session at noon Friday to take action on the Beaumont Avenue project.
At Tuesday night’s regular council meeting, City Manager Dave Willey reported that for another $25,000 the street surface could be milled before a new layer of asphalt was applied. He felt this would make the street smoother and he said there could be other advantages for the road’s longevity.
Willey said the company already contracted to do the street project, Christ Brothers, was ready to proceed immediately. Since the mill work was not on Tuesday’s agenda, the council could not legally vote on it, however it was a consensus of the councilmen to proceed with milling. Friday’s meeting will allow the council to officially vote on it.
Also on Friday’s agenda is appointments to boards and commissions.
The meeting takes place in the municipal building.
