Sunday’s Ripson Bridge Festival To Feature New Location & Parade

The Ripson Bridge Festival has been an annual event in the northwest part of Bond County since 1988.

This year’s festival, held Sunday, October 4, has a change of location . . . to downtown Sorento. Deb Wilson, member of the Sorento Homecoming Association, which sponsors the festival, said the location change was necessary to allow for better parking and to enable participants to get around more easily.

Activities Sunday start with a church service at 10:00 a.m. and the festival begins at 11:00. There’s a parade at 3:00 p.m., several crafters and vendors, and of course, lots of food.

The 3 p.m. parade is new to the festival. Wilson said the bridge grounds have been mowed and persons are invited to visit the historic site at any time.
