Voting has begun for the residents of Greenville to select a new logo to represent the city.
Paper surveys have been included in the water bills, which were mailed Wednesday, and citizens can vote online for their favorite of the two logos presented. The city’s new slogan is “Arms Wide Open.”
Adam Stroud, city economic development director, told WGEL the logos each have the theme of, “being open to new residents, open for business.” He noted that the slogan was selected based on research conducted by a consulting firm.
The economic development director told us the slogan was something to be proud. “We’re a community of givers and volunteers,” he said, “but then also the business community is very volunteer oriented, very service oriented, and that goes into the brand as well.”
Paper surveys will be accepted in addition to online survey results. Surveys are due October 15.

The branding program was initiated a couple of years ago with various residents and business owners invited to provide input as part of focus groups.
