WGEL Recognized For Pie Auction In Support Of LRCF

During the opening ceremony of the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation’s Celebration of Life on Saturday night, WGEL Radio was recognized for its fundraising efforts through the annual celebrity pie auction.

A total of $11,050 was raised this year during the auction.

The pie auction has been going on for about 16 years now.

At the Celebration of Life, Master of Ceremonies John Goldsmith estimated that the pie auction has generated over $100,000 over the years. Click below to hear his comments:

The pie auction was held three mornings by the radio station, with well-known members of the county bringing in pies for bids. All proceeds went to the local Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation.
