Two new logo options were circulated throughout Greenville recently. For two weeks, residents viewed the logos and voted on which one they wanted to represent their community.
The logo that received the most votes is the image of a tree, with the trunk serving as the I in the word “Greenville”.
The new logo comes with a new slogan for the city, “Arms Wide Open”.
The winning logo was preferred by more than 81% of the respondents. During the survey period, 792 responses were completed.
The new logo will soon be added to materials used for economic development, marketing, and tourism. Within the next month, the branding company that was chosen to aid city staff in their marketing efforts will present a guide containing best practices to help implement the new brand. This guide will include strategies on how to best use the logo and marketing materials, a style guide to help with color choices and the appearance of the new brand, and eight sample items that the community can use to market itself.
The city contracted with that firm for $71,000 for the entire project.
