Body Of Granite City Man Found In Mississippi River

According to Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn, a body was recovered from the Mississippi River by the Low Water Dam near Granite City. Madison City Police were notified Wednesday, October 7, at 11:56 a.m. and recovery operations began in conjunction with other area public safety agencies.

The victim has been identified as 40 year old Joseph A. Frazier, of Granite City.

According to Coroner Nonn, Frazier was reported missing on September 26 when, in the presence of his girlfriend, he climbed out onto the bridge deck of the Low Water Dam near Granite City and jumped into the river. The girlfriend reportedly saw Frazier resurface and float a short distance down the river before he submerged.
