Work began Wednesday on the sidewalk replacement project at the Bond County Courthouse.
Several weeks ago, the county board contracted with Slatton Excavating of Greenville for the work.
It began with the replacement of a section of sidewalk on the south side of the courthouse.
The old walkway around the Civil War monument, on the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn, has been removed and new concrete will be poured.
There are several other sidewalk sections around the courthouse that will be replaced.
WGEL was told it will take approximately one week to complete the project, weather permitting.
