Bond County Courtroom Gets Updated Look

The courtroom facilities at the Bond County Courthouse have a new look. After 35 years, the old carpeting is out of the large and small courtrooms, the jury room, the law library room and one of the judge’s chambers. The installation of new carpet was recently finished.

Circuit Court Judge John Knight told WGEL officials are very pleased with the look and functionality of the renovation. Electrical service was added to several areas of the courtroom that didn’t have it before.

The general contractor for the carpet work was Bruce Unterbrink Construction. Also involved was Gould Carpeting. Z & Z Electric has been doing the electric work and Judge Knight said Scott Wight has been involved in computer services.

The county’s public building commission approved bids for the replacement of the carpeting. Court funds were used for work on wiring and the refurbishing of the library.

The courtroom facilities are on the second floor of the courthouse.

Carpeting has also been installed in the county board meeting room on the first floor.
