Medicare Part D provides drug payment assistance for older persons and individuals with disabilities, regardless of income.
The annual open enrollment period is approaching, according to Anna Oestreich, executive director of the Bond County Senior Center. She said it is important for those with Medicare Part D to review their plans.
Oestreich said almost every plan changes every year. Things that can change within a plan include the formulary, the premiums, and deductible amounts.
If you go past the open enrollment period, which ends December 7, you will be included in the same plan you had last year and will not be able to make any changes.

The open enrollment period is October 15 through December 7. According to Oestreich, the senior center is making appointments for individuals wanting to revisit their plans.
The appointments can be lengthy, depending on the medications an individual takes. You are asked to bring your Medicare card with you and a list from your pharmacy of the medications you take. You can also bring the medicine bottles with you if you don’t have a list. Transposed letters and/or numbers can cause error, which leads to further problems.
