The company announced in 2013 it was moving forward with the pipeline extension. Property easements and permits were secured to allow construction to begin this past June.

The Enbridge project is not to be confused with the proposed Dakota Access pipeline project, which may possibly go through the northeast corner of Bond County and into Fayette County.
