Field Fire Turns Out To Be A Controlled Burn

The Greenville Fire Protection District received a report of a field fire on Hazel Dell Road at approximately 12:23 Wednesday afternoon. Smoke and flames were visible to those passing by but the fire turned out to be a controlled burn and crews were informed they didn’t need to address the situation. Personnel were only on the scene a few minutes.

Mulberry Grove firefighters were initially called for mutual aid, but the call was cancelled mid-route.

Greenville fire fighters were also called into action earlier in the day Wednesday, at around 11:40 a.m. to a gas leak at a home in the 1300 block of Killarney Drive. Ameren responded to the scene and asked the fire department for assistance in ventilating the area. Personnel were on the scene for a little over an hour. No injuries were reported.
