Greenville FPD Talks To Students During Fire Prevention Week

Fire departments throughout Bond County have been observing fire prevention week this week.

Firefighters have been visiting schools to impress upon children the importance of fire safety.

Members of the Greenville Fire Protection District visited the Greenville Elementary School and day cares.

Mike Waugh, assistant chief of administration for the district, said the fire safety information is provided to pre-schoolers and boys and girls in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

Waugh said the firefighters impress upon the children the importance of what to do if you have a smoke alarm go off in your home.
