Health Department Soon Able To Bill Insurance For Immunizations

In their recent meeting, the Bond County Board of Health learned that the county health department will soon be able to bill a patient’s insurance provider for immunizations.

“We are encouraged by linking with an endorsed billing company, through the Illinois Public Health Association, on an immunization billing project, to begin billing insurance companies for immunizations,” Public Health Administrator Mark Ayers told WGEL.

He said they are looking at a 90 day implementation time frame.

Currently the health department only takes Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay.

Ayers told WGEL with the new billing system in place, it could generate over $30,000 each year for the Bond County Health Department.
