Six members of the Highland Pierron Fire District completed a 40-hour training course earlier this month at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign. The focus of the course was rope operations.
Highland-Pierron Fire Chief Steve Plocher told WGEL the training consisted of a lot of grain bin rescue. Ropes and harnesses are needed for many of these rescues.
