Mulberry Grove Firefighters Respond To Two Combine Fires

Mulberry Grove firefighters responded Thursday, at 4:30 p.m., to a report of a combine fire at Waxwing Road and Old Park Road northwest of Mulberry Grove. According to Fire Chief Dwight Volkmar, the combine is a 2005 John Deere model 9560. The fire apparently started in the engine compartment but the cause of the fire is unknown. Damage is extensive and the combine is estimated to be totaled. No injuries were reported and firefighters were on the scene about an hour.

Mulberry Grove firefighters responded to another combine on fire on Pittsburgh Road, about a half mile south of Rt. 140 in Fayette County at 6:25 p.m. Friday. The Greenville Fire Department provided mutual aid. Mulberry Grove Fire Chief Dwight Volkmar told WGEL the combine, a 1999 Case IH, was a total loss and officials are unsure of the cause of the fire. Crews were on the scene for about an hour and a half. No one was injured.
