A car/pedestrian accident claimed the life of a St. Elmo woman early Monday morning.
Shortly after midnight, 32 year old Crystal Snider and a friend were walking eastbound on Rt. 40 about three tenths of a mile west of County Road 1950E in Fayette County when an eastbound car driven by Arik Warner struck Snider.
Snider was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner at 1:12 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Fayette County Coroner. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday in Effingham.
