The Greenville City Council has approved a TIF agreement to South Central FS to construct a chemical containment facility on it property east of Carlisle SynTec, along Route 40.
Greenville City Manager Dave Willey told WGEL any new construction in the community is always exciting. He said the building will be a 10 to 11 thousand square foot building to be constructed next to the FS anhydrous plant on Rt. 40. About ten employees from the Second Street FS location will go to work in the new facility.
Willey said TIF funds were requested by FS when expenses associated with the project rose considerably. He said that is what TIF was designed for and is, “a perfect reason to provide a TIF agreement.”
Overall it is a $580,000 project.

Byron Sikma from South Central FS said the company has outgrown its Greenville facility along South Second Street with the seed business doing so well that a new location is needed. He indicated the project will be completed in two phases over two years.
The council also adopted a resolution requesting the Illinois Department of Transportation issue a permit to install water service to the new facility. Willey explained the current water main is in the state right-of-way.
