Tourism Committee Awards Funds For Recent & Upcoming Events

The Greenville Tourism Committee met recently and approved funding for two events that have already been held.

The requests were made prior to the events, but tourism meetings were not conducted due to the lack of quorums.

By votes of 5 to 0, the committee granted $750 in tourism funds for the Bond County Humane Society’s Paws In The Park and the same amount for Our Common Ground’s Artwalk.

The committee tabled a request for tourism funds for the annual I-70 Baseball Coaches Clinic, scheduled for January 17 and 18 at Greenville High School.

Former major league pitching coach Leo Mazzone is scheduled to speak at the clinic.

The tourism committee meeting was the first for new chamber and tourism director April Crew-Kelley. She reported the process of developing a tourism budget for 2016-17 will begin in January.
