Unit 2 Academic Foundation Funds 24 Teacher Grants

The Bond County Unit 2 Academic Foundation recently distributed 24 grants to teachers at various centers within the district. Amounts ranged from $119 to $1,144 and totaled over $12,000. The funds will be used by teachers in Greenville, Pocahontas, and Sorento to purchase items such as books, ipads, audio equipment, flash cards, projectors, printers, and rocket kits.

The foundation also recently re-elected several board members and appointed officers. Randy Alderman, Kim Cruse, Don Dillon, Dr. Bill Beckert, Brant Frey, Jim Keaster, and Pat Potthast were re-elected to another term on the board. Don Dillon will serve as the foundation president, Valerie Klenke as secretary, and Brant Frey as treasurer.

Foundation officials have also announced a new event for the organization. The first annual Light The Way Gala will be held Saturday, March 19 at Copper Dock Winery. The group is currently collecting auction items for the event.
