Unit 2 Contract Negotiations Continue, Board Continues Strategic Planning Efforts


Negotiations are continuing on a new contract for teachers in Bond County Community Unit 2.

During a meeting of the school board’s Finance Committee on Tuesday, Superintendent Wes Olson reported representatives of the teachers and the board will meet with a federal mediator on October 29.

Teachers and non-certified staff members in Unit 2 have been working this school year without a contract.

In other Bond County Community Unit 2 news, the school board of education met last week to continue discussions about strategic planning for Unit 2’s future.

Superintendent Wes Olson talked to WGEL about the recent meeting and said the discussion led to the identification of areas of interest to adopt goals.

Olson told us those areas of interest include finance, facilities, curriculum, personnel, community relations, parental/family involvement, and school culture and climate.
