Hunters in Bond County took 499 deer during the first weekend of the Illinois Firearm Deer Season, November 20-22. That number is up from 405 last year.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says in total, hunters throughout the state harvested a preliminary total of 57,968 deer during the weekend, up from 51,830 during the first firearm weekend in 2014.
Clinton County hunters took 426 deer this year, down from 455 the first weekend last year. Hunters in Madison County harvested 513 deer, up from last year’s 397. First weekend totals in Fayette County came to 1,154 this year, compared to last year’s 1,035. Montgomery County hunters harvested 681 deer during the first weekend this year, up from 587 during the first weekend of 2014.
