AMVETS Post 140 and the Bond County Veterans Memorial Committee will conduct their 18th Veterans Day Ceremony Wednesday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m., in the First United Methodist Church on Second Street in Greenville. The event was moved indoors to avoid predicted bad weather.
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas D. Klincar, US Air Force Retired will be the featured speaker. Circuit Judge John Knight will be the Master of Ceremonies and Kevin Kaegy will speak about the involvement of Greenville men and women in different wars.
The American Legion Post 1180 of Mulberry Grove will not post their Avenue of Flags in Mulberry Grove this year due to the threat of bad weather.
The 22nd Annual Veterans Day Barbeque at the Greenville VFW is Wednesday, November 11, with serving from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wes Pourchot will be cooking and you may get a plate dinner or a sandwich. Carry-outs will be available.
Greenville American Legion Post 282 will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery Wednesday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m., to replace the flag at the cemetery. They will go to Helia Healthcare at 2:00 p.m. to dedicate a memorial flag pole to the late Fred Baumberger and raise a flag for the first time on the new pole. Everyone is welcome.
