Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home Sign Destroyed

The Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home sign board, at the junction of Oak and Second streets and Beaumont Avenue was destroyed when it was struck by a pickup truck early Wednesday morning.

Individuals asleep inside the funeral home heard the noise and looked outside to see a truck leave the scene. It was foggy at the time.

Greenville police were notified of the accident at 1:03 a.m.

At 1:55 a.m., an officer located a damaged and disabled truck at the intersection of Asbury and Hena Streets.

That led to police identifying the alleged driver of the truck as Cale Gall, age 31, of Greenville.

Gall was issued three citations for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, having expired vehicle registration, and leaving the scene of an accident.

The driver was not injured.

Police reported the truck was eastbound on Oak Street when it travelled off the north side of the road and struck the brick funeral home sign board along the street.
