Online registration is open for one of the “coolest events of the winter”, the 2016 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.

The Polar Plunge is one of the premier fund raising events for Special Olympics Illinois. In 2015, 7,666 plungers statewide raised more than $2.25 million.

The local chapter serving Bond, Clinton, and Madison Counties is sponsoring a Polar Plunge Saturday, February 27, at noon, on the main beach of Carlyle Lake. All adventurous souls are invited to join law enforcement officers, media, business, and civic leaders by donning bathing suits, costumes, or any clothing of choice except wet suits, and jumping in the lake.

Each plunger must collect a minimum of $100 in donations to support Special Olympics in Illinois.

For more information or to register, call Justin Dunning at 654-6680.
