Scouting For Food Collection This Saturday

Last Saturday, Boy Scouts in Greenville, Mulberry Grove, and Pocahontas participated in the first week of their annual Scouting for Food program.

Boys canvassed their respective towns and placed plastic bags on the door handle of each home. They request that you place canned goods and non perishable food items in those bags and place them back out on your porch Saturday, November 21. Scouts will collect all contributions and bring them to local food pantries.

Dean Thole, Scoutmaster of Troop 1057 in Greenville, told WGEL the program is a major source of food contributions for local food pantries.

If you’d like to participate and donate food, Thole asks that you put canned goods in a bag on your porch before 9:00 a.m. Saturday. You can use the bag left by scouts, or any other bag, as long as it’s visible from the porch.

Donations of non-perishable food items and canned goods will be routed to the food pantry that serves the community where the donation was picked up.
