Madison County authorities have filed charges in connection with the Marine shooting that took place in the early morning hours Friday.
At 12:22 Friday morning, a resident of the 12,000 block of Mayer Road in Marine called the Madison County Sheriff’s Department reporting that he had shot a man who was trying to force entry into his home. Deputies responded and found 29 year old Brandon E. Switzer, of Troy, in the grass behind the house with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Switzer was transported to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Following a canvas of the neighborhood, officers discovered a neighboring home had been burglarized. Damage was reported inside the home and to a vehicle in the home’s attached garage. Police reportedly found evidence during the investigation that linked Switzer to that alleged burglary as well as a theft from another neighboring home.
Switzer was released from the hospital Friday and was taken into custody by the St. Louis Police Department on an outstanding felony warrant for an alleged burglary in Troy. Switzer was charged this (Monday) morning in Madison County with two counts of alleged residential burglary, theft under $500, and two counts of criminal damage to property.
Bond was set at $200,000.
