Bicentennial Time Capsule Ceremony

The Greenville Bicentennial Time Capsule ceremony is Thursday, December 31, at 2:00 p.m., at the Montrose Mausoleum. Greenville Mayor Alan Gaffner and Bicentennial Chairman Rex Catron will speak during the brief ceremony. Ryan Kleinik will offer a closing prayer. Kleinik is the son of Sandy Kleinik, a member of the Bicentennial Committee and the nephew of Jack Oakley, who was involved in Greenville’s 1965 Sesquicentennial. John Coleman, one of the time capsule organizers, said it contains souvenirs, pictures, a key to the city, a phone book, letters from GES fifth grade students, and many other items. The capsule is to be opened in fifty years for the 250th celebration.
