It was perfect weather Saturday morning for the distribution of food baskets in the Bond County Canned Food Drive.
Becky Blackburn, representing the program, told WGEL 338 people received baskets, which were handed out by volunteer firefighters from throughout the area. Blackburn said the project is truly a community effort, noting that when she went on WGEL recently, asking for canned vegetables, the community responded and provided enough for every basket.

Each food basket had vegetables, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and sauce, potatoes, fruit, cereal and one entrée.
